This post describes how the range of 12 tissue salts can be used to support symptoms and issues often experienced by teens during puberty.

How to ease your teen’s journey through puberty

We can all relate, we’ve been there; it feels like no-one understands; it feels like no-one’s experienced this before; it’s hard. Would any of us want to re-live our teen years? It can be lonely, bewildering and unpredictable. These days there’s the added pressures of social media urging perfection on impressionable, changing minds. And the marketing – all those expensive products! While they’re pushing against our parental authority, it can sometimes be hard to remember it’s our job to support them in their growing up rather than to punish them for not being as well behaved as they used to be!

During puberty the whole of their body – physical, thought processes and personality – goes through a re-programming as the levels of the sex hormones change. If only these hormonal changes were smooth and well-oiled! Instead the hormone levels fluctuate regularly making it hard for teens to know who they are, where they are in space and what they’re meant to be like. It takes time for these hormones to settle down, so expect an unsettled time!

Choosing their own remedy to promote balance rather than mask issues

Wouldn’t it be great if we could give them a magic pill to ease this painful passage through their teenage years! Yes they have to go through it, just like we did, but did you know there’s natural support out there to ease their journey? I’m talking about something they can administer themselves, not someone they go and see, and this fits well with the introspective mindset that’s often part of puberty. Because they’re acutely aware of every spot, every bodily change, every tiny event our teens are great candidates for having a small range of remedies from which they can choose according to their symptoms. And, unlike many of the other treatments available, these work by promoting balance within the body rather than masking the issue for the sake of appearances.

The remedies I’m talking about are called TISSUE SALTS. So, what are they? There’s a set of 12 which were discovered 150 years ago by German biochemist Dr Schuessler, and each one corresponds to a mineral salt which occurs naturally in the body. The theory is that, when a particular mineral salt gets out of balance in our body, we develop symptoms which can be alleviated by taking minute doses of the salt to restore balance. Of course I’m not promising miracle cures, but I’ve seen real improvements in all sorts of acne; I’ve seen long-standing low iron levels return to normal and I’ve seen period cramps alleviated where the tissue salt has been chosen to match the symptoms well. The tissue salts are widely available over the counter or online and, at less than a tenner a pot, are really good value compared with many other products which are around. And there are no side effects!
